Energy Saving Tips

Here are a few simple things that you can do to help you reduce your heating bills and save you money whilst still staying warm during the winter.

Close the doors and vents in unused rooms

If you have a spare room or a storage room that does not get used often, you need to make sure to close the vents and doors for those rooms. The reason for this is that it is still causing you to waste energy as you are heating up a room that you are not using.

Let the sun in

The sun is a great source of free heat and you need to make the most of it! Make sure to open your blinds and curtains during the day so the sun can naturally help heat your home!

Close the curtains/blinds at night

Even though opening them during the day can help keep your house warm, closing them during the night also helps. The reason for this is that it prevents cold air from cooling your home. To maximise the warmth during the night, we recommend adding curtains instead of blinds.

Add double or triple glazing

Double glazing and triple glazing windows are designed to keep the heat in, so you do not have to increase the temperature in your home. If you have single glazed windows, you could also benefit from the reduced noise that comes from the outside.

Check your radiators

Prevent any obstructions from your radiators so that the heat could circulate freely throughout your home. Our boiler experts, throughout Telford, Newport, Shifnal and Atterlely, also recommend bleeding your radiators to release any trapped air which will further help your radiator heat up correctly.
